Over time, the rules were refined to create a balanced and competitive game. Particularly for the size of the field, the weight and the size of the shuttlecock to ensure consistency in practice.

The way of playing

The game begins with a service. That is, the server must throw the shuttlecock in the air and then hit so that it crosses the net and lands in the opponent's service area. To do this, the server must serve from the service square located at the back of his court.

Once this is done, thesteering wheel swap begin. The goal is not to touch the steering wheel to the ground. Moreover, the shuttlecock can only be touched once before being returned to the opponent and must be hit above the net.

Squash is a popular, intense and fascinating game. Bringing together players from all over the world, its history bears witness to the evolution of squash into a modern and dynamic sport.

How did this sport appear?

Squash's roots date back centuries to ancient Egypt, ancient Greece and the Roman Empire with wooden rackets and balls filled with air or hair.

It was in England in the 19th century that modern squash emerged. Originally called “rackets”, it was practiced in private schools and social clubs with special rackets and sturdy leather balls. But the limited space of racket courts led players to hit the ball against a wall, giving rise to squash as we know it. Furthermore, the term “squash” was adopted in reference to the sound produced when the ball hits the wall and its compression.

Furthermore, the formal development of squash began in 1883 when the Harrow school established the first rules of the game. It was in the 20th century that the game became popular.

How to play it?

Squash is played on a rectangular court 9.75 meters long, 6.4 meters wide and 5 meters high surrounded by four walls

The game begins with a service where the player must hit the ball diagonally, from behind their own half, bouncing the ball into their opponent's service area. The ball must touch the wall before the second line above the ground and bounce into the opposite service area.

Then, the playersexchange the ball alternately banging against the wall before she hits the ground twice. How to win a point ? If a player fails to throw the ball correctly, for example by hitting it out of bounds or not bouncing it before the second touch on the ground.

Play double-sided with table tennis

Table tennis, also known as ping pong, is one of the most fun and competitive racquet sports. It's a fast-paced game that requires responsiveness and challenges your dexterity and coordination. Its humble beginnings and method of play have made table tennis a world-famous Olympic sport.

His birth

Table tennis has its origins in Europe in the 19th century, in England where a game similar to ping pong took place in the living rooms of high society. It turns out that players were hitting a cork ball with books as rackets, causing the ball to bounce on the table. Then in 1880, cork balls were replaced with celluloid balls for better bounce and visibility. To complement the game, wooden rackets were developed to allow players to control the ball with precision.

At this time, table tennis was gaining popularity and clubs were established in England, ping pong became competitive. It was not until 1989 that ping pong was recognized as an official Olympic sport.

How is it practiced?

Ping pong is played on a rectangular table divided into two equal halves by a net. The game begins with a service of the player who holds the ball in his open palm and throws it vertically before hitting it with the racket. The ball must bounce to the right side of the server, then to the right side of the receiver, without touching the net.

Then, theexchange of balls begins so that each player alternately hits the table. Furthermore, the ball must bounce on the receiver's side before being hit and it cannot touch the net or the edges of the table.

About the points, a point is counted when a rally is won. The first player to reach 11 points with a two-point lead wins the tournament. But if there is a tie, play continues until one of them has a two-point advantage.

Relax at the beach with beach tennis

Beach tennis is a sport that mixes the pleasures of the beach with the excitement of tennis. This game is played on the sand and has become a sport in its own right.

His appearance

It was on the beaches of Italy in the 1970s that beach tennis came to life. Thirsty for relaxation and playfulness, bathers played volleyball on the sand with their bare hands, hitting the ball with gestures similar to those in tennis.

Over the years, beach tennis has evolved from a simple beach activity to an organized and competitive sport. In fact, rules were defined and rubber balls with wooden rackets were integrated to play professionally.

Beach tennis has been so popular that in 2008, the international tennis federation recognized beach tennis as a discipline in its own right by including it in its calendar.

What is the objective of the game ?

Like all racquet sports, the game begins with a serve. In the same way as in tennis, the serve is done diagonally. The server must throw the ball and hit it with the racket. Therefore, the ball must touch the sand in the opposite zone without touching the net. The game continues with exchanges of balls, the ball must touch the sand only once before being caught by the opponent. Finally, points are counted from a won exchange. The set is won when the player has 12 points and two points in advance.
